A fantastic week on the service, with two excellent performances. Far Above (15/2) and Kameko (10/1) providing clients with an excellent Saturday on the Newmarket card – Kemeko was highlighted in my last blog as my idea of the likeliest winner – I hope a few of you were on!
A busy week or two planned, in particular at Royal Ascot for which we have some very strong information which will be sent out to clients nearer the time. In the meantime I have several eye-catchers from this week’s racing that are worth putting into your trackers going forward:
Group One Power: This Andrew Balding trained colt may have lost his unbeaten record on the 3rd June at Yarmouth, but based on the quality of his homework the stable remain confident that there’s plenty more to come from this horse off a mark of 80. The ground may also have been on the quick side for him that day and a slightly easier surface should see him in a better light with a recent run now under his belt.
Queen Power: A filly that has always been held in high regard, this daughter of Shamardal had numerous issues corrected over the winter and showed that she retained all of her ability in the Dahlia Stakes (Group 2) when finishing an excellent 2nd to the very smart Terebellum. Queen Power may just be short of what it takes to be competitive in Group 1 company, but she remains low-mileage for a 4-y-o and she’s expected to take a Group prize sooner rather than later.
Tactical: A horse we were told to keep an eye out for this season, this Andrew Balding trained son of Toronado, owned by The Queen, caught the eye on his debut at Newmarket last Thursday. He was almost certainly unlucky not to finish closer behind the very smart looking Eye of Heaven when hampered a furlong from home before sticking to the task well once in the clear. Significant improvement can be expected on his next start and he should have no issues in winning a maiden or novice elsewhere if his recent work is anything to go by. He’s a colt with significant potential this season.
